KDS Screensavers

Mind Taffy Design's i3D Screensavers have withstood the test of time, with branded screensavers created well over a decade ago still imparting maximum visual impact. Shown above is the KDS Visual Sensations Screensaver, created in Autodesk 3D Studio DOS and delivered to KDS in 1996 using the AVI format. We're now using 3DS MAX 2009 for Windows Vista, a dozen major versions down the road, and we're still leveraging its features for "edge" new media content.

i3D Screensavers can provide international brand marketers with a "viral" way to spread their message, via one of the more "traded" electronic file types: The .SCR File. When placed in your Windows directory, the .SCR screensaver file shows up in a list of installed screensavers in the display properties dialog, under the screensaver tab.

Since the 1990s, Windows screensavers have been able to utilize DirectX and OpenGL, which are real-time 3D rendering technologies. OpenGL allows the interactive programming of anything from product animations to interactive objects to i3D games or presentations, and "cutting-edge" product marketing campaigns can now be created as compelling interactive 3D [i3D] screensavers.

Iced Green Tea hired MindTaffy Design to create a series of i3D screensavers marketing the Iced Green Tea product. We utilized particle systems, physics dynamics, real-time image compositing, and 3D in a series of edge i3D screensavers.

Kinoton GMBH utilized a Mind Taffy Design screensaver to demonstrate their new cylindrical LED display at a US tradeshow. The screensaver featured an interactive swiss army knife with the Kinoton Brand on the outside. The knife was fully functional and provided seamless cylindrical interactive content matched to the exact physical resolution of the cylindrical LED display, showing off both the image quality of the cylindrical display as well as it's use for interactive product demonstration e-signage.
